![]() The HSS tool bit just loads up with Aluminum into the cut and really does a number on the head. It could use a better tool bit with chip clearancing capability. The Drillpress flycutter tool has alway fascinated me. The holes are round too.5/10,000! Not bad there too. So the total stack of "slop" is really neglegible.5/10,000 inch or less. The bearings are honed to 0.0001 inch clearance. The outboard supports are hard bronze with about 3 inch length to them to give it rigidity. This will take huge cuts and still cuts smooth finishes. Now on the other hand, the TrueLine is a leadscrew-feed design much like a lathe. 2nd, the toolbit mounts are not the greatest. That is why it leaves grooves and bounces around. But we all know the cut is pretty huge.0.020 all at once. ![]() The Porta-Tool lineborer is a fine design.provided you take little cuts since it is hydraulic feed. I won't use it to open heads for 94's because I don't think it's accurate enough to keep the eyebrows even. But a tool/fixture is only as good as the operator. Yes, I wish I had a mill and I'm sure it would do a better job. I suppose I could box them up and send them to the east coast and pay what, $50 each to get them done + shipping? Don't think so. I take mine to Solenberg Performance and they come back like I want them. I drop heads off at Engine Machine Service and its taken care of. Post away if you have ideas on how to do it best.
